You can use duplicate document checking alerts for when an envelope or a document transaction key has previously been imported. Be notified immediately when a new trading partner or new T-Set is automatically created from imported EDI.
If malformed EDI found in an imported file, the EDI contains invalid or matching delimiters, or there was no EDI found, there are alerts for that. You can also be signaled for issues that can arise when data is written out to files or is committed to ODBC tables. Much like the fully customizable dashboard feature in EDI/HQ™, alerts allow you to enable only the items for which you want to be notified, and the manner in which each notification will be delivered.
Another advantage of using these system alerts: you can target the alert to the right people or department for handling. The person who needs to know of the upcoming license expiration may not be the same if the alert concerns a duplicate transaction.
The employee handling inbound EDI and the issues that may be raised in alerts may not need to spend time worrying about the outbound processing and sending of EDI, if that is the assignment of someone else. If multiple people need to receive a particular type of alert, their information can be entered individually or –if your e-mail system supports it – a distribution list can be used to bring some organization to your setup and ensure continuity during times of employee time off or turnover.
