Home Depot has just issued an update to their routing guide at RoutingGuides.com

Please make sure to log into the Home Depot routing guide at http://www.routingguides.com/hd to ensure that you are using the most current information.

Our new Routing Guide is effective January 26, 2009.

Included in the changes is a restructuring of THD’s Core Carrier Program.

Central Freight Lines and Lakeville Motor Express are no longer a THD Core Carrier. With THD’s strategy of RDC implementation, the Direct-to-Store channel must make the necessary changes to better leverage existing volume. This by no means should be interpreted as a poor reflection on the carrier as THD has valued their partnership over the last several years.

Averitt, Estes Express, New England Motor, Southeastern Freight Lines, and YRC (Roadway, USF Holland, USF Reddaway) all remain THD Core Carriers but please review the Routing Guide as routings have changed for each. Additionally, UPS Freight has been added as a THD Core Carrier in selected areas.

The Home Depot requires all vendors to adhere to the routing guidelines.

THD will monitor and report all shipments from the vendor to the stores to ensure compliance to the THD Core Carrier Program. Use of non-core carriers creates inefficiencies within the Home Depot supply chain and vendors will be subject to penalties for non-compliance. Penalties will be waived for non-compliance in LTL carrier selection from 1/26/09 – 2/16/09 in order to allow suppliers to make any necessary changes due to THD’s LTL Core Carrier changes.

As a reminder, vendors are required to tender their LTL shipments (electronically via EDI 211) directly to the designated THD Core Carrier. The THD Core Carrier can assist in establishing EDI communication if one does not currently exist.

All vendors are encouraged to log onto the routing guide today to determine how the changes impact your shipping operations and execute accordingly. We appreciate in advance your prompt attention and adherence to the changes.

If you have questions related to compliance, please direct them to Transportation_Compliance@homedepot.com and include the following: Vendor #, Vendor Name, Your Name, Your Phone #, Your Title, Inquiry details.

Note: There are no routing changes for TL, Carpet, or Parcel guidelines.

Thank you,

The Home Depot Transportation
