To compete and succeed in a highly competitive retail environment, we must exceed the demands of our customers. One way to achieve this goal is to improve the way we do business with you, our supplier partners. Loblaw has begun to implement SAP to establish better and more sophisticated retail systems.
Accurate and complete master data is critical to our successful SAP implementation. We are encouraging all our suppliers to register with GS1 to easily and securely share product data. GS1 Canada is a not-for-profit, industry-led organization that develops, promotes and maintains global standards for the identification of goods, services, locations and related e-commerce communication.
ECCnet is a national product registry developed by GS1 Canada which allows for a paperless listing process, improving data accuracy and synchronization between businesses. Suppliers input information for each product one time and the registry facilitates distribution of data to all of your customers. For more information, please contact GS1 Canada at 1-800-567-7084 or refer to the web site: http://www.gs1ca.org.
In September 2010, Loblaw will begin to transition our master data (Item, Vendor and Site) to SAP Master Data. As part of the transition, we will be changing a number of forms and processes related to article and vendor set up and purchase pricing (costing). Details of these changes as well as a category roll-out schedule and any related blackout periods will be communicated to you about 12 weeks in advance to give you time to prepare. In the short term we are making a change to Loblaw costing process. Effective immediately we will only accept new costs rounded to two decimal points, an SAP standard, and will no longer be able to accommodate new cost submissions with four decimal points. Costs that are currently listed with four decimals need to be converted to two decimals no later than July 5, 2010.
Actions Requested in Preparation for SAP:
- Please ensure new submitted costs are rounded to two decimal points effective immediately. Costs listed with four decimals need to be converted to two decimals no later than July 5, 2010.
- Please consider registering with GS1 and ECCnet and enter/validate your product data by July 5, 2010.
- If you have any questions or comments, please contact us at supplierSC2010@loblaw.ca.
Look for our update communications in late June for details of the new forms, processes, category roll-out schedule and blackout periods.
