CVS Caremark AS2 EDI Platform Migration

CVS Caremark is embarking on an EDI platform consolidation for it’s PBM Pharma Procurement and Invoicing Operations. (ISA ID: ADVPCS)

This change does not impact CVS Retail Pharmacy EDI exchanges.

By September 30, 2010, all AS2 EDI traffic must be migrated to our new GIS (Gentran Integration Suite) Platform. This is an infrastructure change only!

No EDI Maps will be changing, only the hardware and software will be changing on our side.

What does this mean to you?

We will need to coordinate a schedule with your organization to migrate all AS2 EDI traffic to our new GIS platform.

When do we have to migrate?

Currently, CVS Caremark is using Axway’s Cyclone system for all AS2 traffic. We will be retiring this platform in early October, 2010.

So, between July 15th, 2010 and September 30th, 2010, we would like to work with you to help you migrate to our new GIS system.

How will we migrate to CVS Caremark’s GIS platform?

We anticipate this will be a moderate level of effort by both sides. We will exchange AS2 Certificates and key information for both our TEST and PRODUCTION environments.

If your organization has a TEST environment available, we can send TEST files to you from our GIS test environment and receive TEST files … from your TEST environment to validate end to end connectivity. Next, we will plan and execute a cutover to Production.

If your organization does not support a TEST environment, then we will have to plan and execute a Production cutover together.

What if my organization has limited or no AS2 EDI traffic with CVS Caremark?

Your organization is not going to be forced to make a transition. This will mean that our EDI partnership and ability to trade EDI files will be severed. If Procurement activity from CVS Caremark increases, we will request that the EDI infrastructure be re-implemented.

What is going to happen next?

This is an early communication to notify you of the upcoming events.

We need you to either respond that this communication has been received and understood, or forward this communication to the appropriate group or individual.

We will be updating our contact information as each of you respond in kind.

If you have any questions about this migration, please let me know.

Thank you so kindly for responding on or before July 9th, 2010.
