Amazon New “Frustration-Free Packaging/Ships in Own Container” Chargeback Affecting Vendors
Amazon adds new EDI chargeback for “Frustration-Free Packaging/Ships in Own Container” impacting vendors that goes into effect September 3, 2019. Read all the details straight from Amazon here to avoid pricey fees and penalties.
In an effort to drive sustainability improvements and ensure a great customer experience related to packaging, Amazon is officially launching a new Frustration-Free Packaging/Ships in Own Container chargeback on September 3, 2019. Amazon communicated this chargeback to all impacted vendors in September 2018 to allow time to modify your packaging and certify with Amazon.
Amazon Chargeback Details
This new chargeback requires certification of ASINs as Tier 1 – Frustration-Free Packaging (FFP) or Tier 2 – Ships in Own Container (SIOC) when any one or more of the following is true:
- The longest side is more than 18″
- The shortest side is more than 8″
- The median side is more than 14″
- The weight is greater than 20 lbs
The charge for ASINs that are not certified by September 3, 2019 is $1.99 per unit received starting September 3, 2019.
