Understanding “EDI Data” versus “Application Data”
These are two terms that you might hear your EDI Consultant use, but if you are new to EDI you might wonder what exactly these are.

When your consultant mentions “EDI Data” he or she is describing X12 or EDIFACT data that is either inbound to you from your trading partner, or outbound that you are sending to your trading partner.

One use of the term “Application Data” is to describe the data that is exported from your back end system for use in creating outbound EDI transactions. Another use is to desctibe the data that is created through mapping the inbound EDI data to a format used by your back end system.

If you still have question questions on this or anything else EDI related please give you EDI Consultant a call at 1 (877) 334-1334 today.
